Spiti Valley Package

Tap to Know More
Spiti is a high-altitude region of the Himalayas, located in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The middle land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India

After an overnight journey from Delhi/Chandigarh, arrive at Manali in the morning and check into the hotel. You are free to do whatever you like on this day, but the essential thing is to rest and acclimate rather than overexert yourself.

This evening, we'll have a quick briefing session with the guide. Today will also be an excellent opportunity to meet the rest of the group. We recommend getting a good night's sleep because your body will need it for the long voyage ahead. We'll be going exceptionally early the next day; getting enough rest will aid your acclimatization.

Things to do today in Manali:

  • Visit Manu temple
  • Visit Hidimba Devi Temple or Hadimba Devi Temple
  • Visit Vashisth temples
  • Go for a walk in the Great Himalayan National Park Manali
  • Relax in the cafes around old Manali
  • Catch up on last-minute shopping
  • Briefing with the guide in the evening
  • Trek Jogni Waterfall

Today we will go to Spiti Valley, which will take around seven to eight hours and 200 kilometers if all goes according to plan. We depart early in the morning since we have a long journey ahead of us, including crossing the Atal Tunnel. At nine kilometers above 10,000 feet, the tunnel is the world's longest. Take your time approaching Gramphu village in Himachal Pradesh after crossing the tunnel.

You'll notice a shift in terrain as you leave Gramphu town, with fewer trees, steeper mountains, and the beginning of a desolate environment. From here, we travel to Chatru, passing through some of the most spectacular waterfalls. These may be a nightmare for inexperienced drivers, but you'll be in good hands from the start. From Chatru, the environment will significantly alter, with enormous torrents pouring over the road and uniting in the merciless Chandra river.

We'll make frequent stops so you can take in your surroundings, observe the beautiful scenery, and breathe in the fresh air. At Batal, we'll stop for lunch at the legendary Chandra Dhaba, where you may meet Chacha and Chachi. They've saved the lives of at least a few hundred people who have been stranded in harsh weather throughout the years. As you approach Spiti Valley, we will go to Kunzum Pass, where we will stop to pay our respects to the Kunzum Goddess.

Starting in Gramphoo, the bumpy trip over non-existent roads would terminate in Lohsar. After a short rest, go to Kaza from Lohsar. It will take another two hours of breathtaking scenery. Arrive in Kaza, check in, and relax with a cup of tea. At the dining table, we'll have a briefing session. This exhausting day will close with you gazing at the beautiful Spitian sky, which is ablaze with a million stars and the bright milky way.

Things to do Manali to Gramphu to Chota Chatru to Kaza:

  • Stop for pics after Atal tunnel.
  • Breakfast at Marhi or Chota Chatru
  • River crossing Chota Dhara
  • Lunch at Batal
  • Meet the famous Chacha and Chachi at the Dhaba
  • Stop at Kunzum pass
  • Stop in Lohsar for Chai

Start the day off right with a delicious local breakfast. We'll travel to Kye monastery or Key Monastery, the learning center of the Spiti valley. The monastery is situated on a tiny hill with a panoramic view of the valley. At the monastery, have a cup of tea and spend some time on the roof, where you may take photos and videos.

After that, we'll travel to Khibber village or Kibber village, which used to be the world's highest motor-able settlement before Komic took it over. Kibber village is renowned for spotting and photographing the snow leopard.

Kibber, also known as Kyibar, is located at 4270 meters or 14,200 feet. The Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is 20 kilometers from Kaza, and during the summer, a bus service connects the two.

The rare Snow Leopard, red foxes, and Siberian Ibex live in the highlands near Kibber. You could get a glimpse if you're lucky. Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest bridge above sea level, is a short stroll from Khibber hamlet, and you may climb to the bridge or drive there if you're feeling adventurous.

From here, we return to Kaza just in time for a team-organized local-style lunch. For you to receive a modest flavour of our cuisine, the meal will include several major dishes and staples of the people of Spiti.

Things to do today:

  • Visit Key Monastery and spend time with the monks there.
  • Enjoy a cup of tea at the monastery.
  • Hike to the hill behind Key monastery.
  • Visit Kibber village, an optional hike to Chicham bridge
  • Local lunch in Kaza.

This morning, pack your luggage, eat an early breakfast, and leave for the trek in Spiti valley. The taxis will take you to Langza, where we will spend some time before beginning our day's journey. Spend some time roaming around the hamlet and admiring the Buddha statue's beautiful scenery.

Langza village's whole landscape was previously under the Tethys Sea and is rich in fossils. You can look for some, but don't bring them back with you.

Begin the Spiti trek to Komic, the highest motorable road village globally, with a brief stop at Hikkim, where we will see the world's highest post office. Send some postcards to your loved ones from here, then have tea with the mailman to learn about his life.

Today we will make our final journey to our target, Komic village, one of Asia's tallest communities. Visit the monastery, eat lunch there, watch the sunset, and get to know your homestay host. This will be your first night in the homestay, and it won't be easy because some individuals may have difficulty acclimating.

Komic village, in the magnificent Spiti Valley, is known for being one of the world's highest settlements. The settlement is bordered by snow-capped mountains and deep valleys, making it seem like a dream where every frame is lovely. The Tangyud Monastery, a relatively poor monastery, is said to have been founded in the 14th century. The village of Komic is located at an elevation of 15027 feet above sea level.

There's no need to be concerned; drink plenty of water and eat well. Learn about your host and their way of living at such a high altitude. When life in Spiti might be hard, it also has a warm side, which you will see while sharing space with a local family. After an early meal, get some rest for the night.

We'll start late after a wonderful breakfast at Demul village and stroll down to Lahlung village through the farmlands of Demul village and Rama village because this day trek won't be that lengthy. Most of the day will be downhill, with a minor ascent right before reaching Lahlung. Visit the Sherkhang monastery and listen to a monk tell you about the monastery's mythology. Meet your day's host and take a break.

  • Trek from Demul village to Lahlung village
  • Visit Serkhang monastery in Lahlung.

Your transport will come early in the morning, and we will return to Kaza via Dhankar, Tabo, and Pin Valley. Dhankar and Tabo are both known for their monasteries. We'll start at Dhankar monastery, a 1000-year-old fortress perched on a rock overlooking the Spiti-Pin River confluence.

Only a few other monuments can compare to Dhankar in terms of beauty. Enjoy a cup of tea while seeing the monastery as you visit this monastery. Hiking to the adjacent Dhankar Lake is an option for those up for it. We'll travel to Tabo monastery, often known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas, which has a 1000-year-old monastery.

Murals, wall paintings, and thankas will transport you to another era and render you speechless. The location's atmosphere will make you wonder where all of this is coming from. You can also go to the ancient caves where monks have meditated for centuries. Pin Valley has become a popular starting location for many high-altitude wilderness treks in the Spiti Valley.
